Wat Pa Baan Taad was founded by Venerable Ajaan Mahā Boowa Ñānasampanno, a revered disciple of Ajaan Mun Bhūridatto and a leading figure in the Thai forest tradition. In 1950, after learning of his mother’s illness, Ajaan Mahā Boowa returned to his village to care for her. Villagers and relatives urged him to establish a monastery in the forested area of the village. With the donation of approximately 64 acres of land, he began building Wat Pa Baan Taad in November 1955. Under his guidance, the monastery became a beacon of Dhamma practice, attracting monks and lay practitioners from around the world.
